Our philosophy begins with being a Home-Away-From-Home center. We want each child to feel at home. This philosophy is shown in our decorating and design, in our classroom management, and in our student/parent relationships. In our decorating and design, you will notice the wide use of carpet, earthy tiles, and warm neutral colors which reflect a home atmosphere. In our classroom management, all are classrooms have tree names instead of age based names. We want each child to feel at home in any “tree” room. We base all are classroom assignments on physical, emotional, and mental development; friendships; times and dates of attendance, not just age. We also believe that connecting in at least two different rooms is a benefit to the child. We believe that, just like in a healthy family where extended family and friends are a part of the rich tapestry of a child’s relational world, so too there is great value for a number of teachers and friends (students) to know each child. We believe, as well, that a child’s day is enriched by different experiences and play equipment found in the different rooms. |
